# An AutoSend alternative with a free plan and a spend limit.

URL: https://samva.dev/compare/autosend

Samva is free for 500 emails a month, stops extra email at a spend limit you set, and keeps templates as versioned TSX in your Git repository. AutoSend has no free plan and states no cap on overage.

Prices checked September 29, 2026

## Who should switch, and who should stay.

Switch if

- You want to start free. AutoSend's pricing page, read on September 29, 2026, lists no free plan; its Hobby plan is $1 for 3,000 transactional emails without webhooks. Samva is free for 500 emails a month.
- You want a hard limit on extra email. As its pricing page read on September 29, 2026, AutoSend charges a per-email fee past your quota and states no cap; it sends an email alert at 90% of quota. Samva stops extra email at the spend limit you set.
- You want templates as versioned TSX in Git, previewed and published from your repository.

Stay on AutoSend if

- You need marketing automations. AutoSend's marketing plans include them; Samva has campaigns, not automations.
- You need an SMTP relay. AutoSend documents one; Samva has no SMTP relay.

AutoSend: Transactional plans.

The table uses AutoSend's transactional plans and overage rates listed on September 29, 2026. The 500,000-email figure is calculated from the $290 Scale plan for 400,000 emails plus 100,000 extra emails at $0.0010 each, for $390. The listed 600,000-email Scale plan is $420. Marketing-plus-transactional plans are not included.

## Moving from AutoSend.

Add your domain and publish the DKIM and SPF records Samva generates next to the old provider's. Both can send while you switch.

Swap the send call.

## AutoSend Node SDK or REST

```ts
import { Autosend } from "autosendjs";
const autosend = new Autosend(process.env.AUTOSEND_API_KEY);
await autosend.emails.send({
  from: { email: "hello@yourdomain.com" },
  to: { email: "ada@example.com" },
  subject: "Your receipt",
  html: "<p>Thanks for your order.</p>",
});
```

## Samva

```ts
await samva.messages.send({
  from: { email: "orders@example.com" },
  to: [{ email: "ada@example.com" }],
  channel: "email",
  email: {
    subject: "Your receipt",
    html: "<p>Thanks for your order.</p>",
  },
});
```

Map webhooks. Samva sends signed events for sent, delivered, bounced, complained, failed, and received, with received going to the endpoint your domain's receiving route names. Opens and clicks arrive as message.opened and message.clicked, and unsubscribes as contact.unsubscribed.

| AutoSend event | Samva event |
| --- | --- |
| `email.sent` | `message.sent` |
| `email.delivered` | `message.delivered` |
| `email.bounced` | `message.bounced` |
| `email.spam_reported` | `message.complained` |
| `email.received` | `message.received` |
| `email.opened` | `message.opened` |
| `email.clicked` | `message.clicked` |
| `email.unsubscribed` | `contact.unsubscribed` |

Recreate templates as versioned templates, or send your existing HTML inline while you move.

Keep the old provider's suppression list in your app and filter against it. Samva cannot import it.

Turn on receiving if you want replies back.

What does not move: templates, the suppression list, and message history.

## Questions before you switch.

### Does AutoSend have a free plan?

No. AutoSend's pricing page says it has no free plan and that its Hobby plan begins at $1, described as a small fee against abuse. Hobby is 3,000 transactional emails with no webhooks. Samva is free for 500 emails a month, up to 100 a day. Checked Sep 29, 2026.

### What happens when I pass my AutoSend quota?

AutoSend charges a per-1,000 fee for additional emails and emails you when you reach 90% of your quota. Its pricing page states no cap on that fee. On Samva, extra email is $0.50 per 1,000 and stops at the spend limit you set. Checked Sep 29, 2026.

### Does Samva have AutoSend's automations or SMTP?

No. Samva has campaigns, and no automations and no SMTP relay. AutoSend's docs list automations and an SMTP relay, so stay if your workflow depends on either. Checked Sep 29, 2026.

### Is AutoSend billed on contacts?

No. AutoSend's pricing page says it charges for emails sent, not contacts saved, and Samva bills on emails as well, so this is not a reason to switch. Checked Sep 29, 2026.
